Michelle Obama rubbed elbows with fashion bigwigs last night, as she attended a Democratic National Committee fundraiser at Tory Burch's home on Wednesday evening.
The first lady addressed a crowd of 40 in the opulent library of Burch's New York City apartment. Anna Wintour and Vera Wang were in attendance, as was Julianne Moore (although she made an early departure, according to pool reports).
Wearing a black dress paired with black necklaces, Obama opened her speech by acknowledging her close connection with the fashion industry and its major players.
"This is a special event because there are a lot of people who have touched my life in so many important ways, who have helped me become the poised and stylish woman that I am," she began, eliciting some laughs from the crowd. "So, I want to thank all of you. I want to thank Tory."
Although we don't have photos from the evening (major bummer, right?), we can only imagine FLOTUS' outfit was killer -- if there's any time to step up your fashion game, it's at an event like this. But we doubt the first lady was too self-conscious among the fashion elite, given she's got her own Vogue cover and all. She and Anna are probably BFFs at this point.
Michelle's got friends in high places:
