Wolvesmouth Chef Craig Thornton Reveals His Favorite LA Restaurants

Super Hip Chef Reveals His Favorite LA Restaurants

Chef Craig Thornton is the eponymous wolf running downtown LA's most sought-after underground dining experience, Wolvesmouth. As abstract and complex as his dishes might get, he's also a lover of good, simple food done right.

The Huffington Post caught up with Thornton at a private dinner party celebrating Fox's new ADHD launch this July where he and his team served up seven courses of pure deliciousness along with zombie punch and classic cocktails.

Thornton has said he refrains from eating when he's working, but he did share his favorite LA spots to dine when he's off the clock, and his dream last meal.

When asked about his favorite LA chefs, he named Josef Centeno without skipping a beat, praising the tang of his food and his stellar Texas-style queso. "I go to Bäco Mercat and Bar Amá a lot," Thornton said. "Josef is doing great things, and I live downtown so they're both close by."

Close seconds? The Hart & the Hunter at the Palihotel and Superba Snack Bar in Venice both got shout-outs for their simple food done right.

And if you're curious what his last meal would be-- like we are with most chefs -- he had a very specific answer all lined up: "White beans with ham hock and a piece of really good bread with butter and nice salt."
