Lauren Spierer Update: Two Years, 3,060 Tips And No Sign Of Missing College Student

After Two Years, 3,060 Tips and Lauren Spierer Still Missing

Today marks two years since Lauren Spierer, a 20-year-old apparel merchandising major at Indiana University, disappeared under mysterious circumstances.

"Since the time of Lauren's disappearance ... the Bloomington Police Department has continued its ongoing effort to provide answers to Lauren's family and the Bloomington community," the Bloomington Police Department said in a statement issued Friday.

As of May 24, a total of 3,060 tips have been received by investigators, police said.

Spierer was last seen on June 3, 2011 around 4:30 a.m. just a few blocks from her Smallwood Plaza apartment. Earlier in the night, Spierer had visited Kilroy's, a nearby sports bar that closes at 3 a.m. When she left the establishment, she left behind her shoes and cellphone, police said.

After leaving the bar, Spierer reportedly went back to her building with Corey Rossman, a fellow college student at the university. Someone at the residence allegedly punched Rossman in the face, so the couple left and went to Rossman's nearby townhouse. What happened to Spierer after that remains a mystery. She was reported missing less than 12 hours later.

Rossman's lawyer, Carl Salzmann, has previously said his client has no memory of his last moments with Spierer because of the punch he sustained to his face that night.

Spierers' parents have been highly critical of Rossman and two other men who were reportedly the last people to have contact with their daughter.

"I think he's a liar and a coward," the missing girl's father, Robert Spierer told The Journal News in April 2012.

Today, Spierers' parents are still hopeful that they will eventually get the answers that they seek.

"There's a sense that someday, some week things will change for us," Robert Spierer told The Herald-Times. "That someone will have the strength, the crisis of conscience to come forward."

Lauren's family members created and maintain a website called findlauren.com.

Despite being two years into the investigation, authorities said they continue to receive tips on a regular basis. Of the 3,060 tips they have received to date, more than 100 of them were received this year.

"Information continues to come in regarding Lauren's case and investigators diligently pursue the information with the same level of commitment as in the beginning," Bloomington police said. "No amount of time passing will deter us from our responsibility and we remain dedicated to Lauren's case."

Lauren Spierer is described as a white female who is 4-feet-11-inches tall with a slender build. She has blue eyes and blond hair. She was last wearing a white tank top with a light-colored shirt over it and black stretch pants. Anyone with information on her whereabouts is asked to call Bloomington Police at (812) 339-4477.
