Authority figures in movies are often played by men, but that hasn't stopped Jane Lynch. In this episode of Mondays With Marlo, she explained that she often ends up being cast in roles originally intended for a male actor.
Her role as a store manager in "The 40-Year-Old Virgin," for example, was written with a man in mind. But when Steve Carell's wife suggested the cast needed another woman in the movie, Jane's name was suggested -- and after improvising with the actors, she earned the part.
