Ian Clarkin Says He 'Can't Stand' Yankees Before Being Drafted By Yankees (VIDEO)

WATCH: Yanks' Draft Pick Eats His Words

Ian Clarkin probably didn't see this one coming.

With the 33rd pick of the 2013 MLB First-Year Player Draft on Thursday evening, the 18-year-old lefty pitcher was selected by the New York Yankees. But when Clarkin was interviewed by former MLB All-Star Luis Gonzalez, he was quickly reminded of the words that came out of his mouth before he was chosen by the Bronx Bombers.

"I can not stand the Yankees," Clarkins told MLB.com in a pre-draft interview, pointing out the RBI single Gonzalez had hit to defeat New York in Game 7 of the 2001 World Series. "I was actually in tears because I was so happy."

Clarkin had just three words when faced with his previous statement.

"Ohhh, my gosh."

"I had a good feeling that my dream would come true today," Clarkin told U-T San Diego. "Now, I'm a Yankee. They're a historic organization."
