As far as designer brands go, Marchesa is pretty out-of-reach. The designer label, created by Georgina Chapman and Keren Craig, is famous for its glittery red carpet gowns rather than affordable accessories or branded fragrances.
Thankfully, Marchesa has graciously made itself available to the masses in the form of a Revlon makeup line. Women's Wear Daily reports that Revlon by Marchesa will comprise three different collections, the first being a set of 3D nail strips. (Yes, nail strips.) The intricate nail art will debut this fall, followed by two as-yet unannounced collections. Shimmery eye makeup, perhaps?
Despite its high-profile image, Marchesa has actually collaborated with lower-priced brands before. In February, the label announced it was teaming with J.C. Penney's for an affordable dress line, Pearl by Georgina Chapman of Marchesa. But the party dress collection, with prices in the $70-$100 range, was aimed more at the juniors set. The label also launched a diffusion line, Notte by Marchesa, in 2006, but the price range for those evening gowns is $600 to $900 -- not exactly H&M or Target numbers.
So will an accessible Revlon collab hit the mainstream market sweet spot, or is Georgina Chapman and Keren Craig's line destined to remain the stuff of awards show red carpets forever?
We can't tell for sure, but we're still holding out for a fast-fashion collab. Read more at WWD.com.
