Robert Rodriguez's 'Two Scoops': Is Online Sci-Fi Short Really About Aliens Closer To Home? (VIDEO)

WATCH: Robert Rodriguez Puts Latina Aliens In Harm's Way

Has director Robert Rodriguez made a sci-fi parable about undocumented Hispanics?

His short "Two Scoops" hit the Internet recently (watch above), with twins Electra and Elise Avellan playing ice cream servers on a rocky road to finding their missing dad.

"We're not from here," the two are fond of saying in their Spanish accents. And we soon discover just how far-flung they are when these badass aliens (nudge nudge, wink wink) fight a monster to get to the truth.

"This is not a movie," declares one of the girls about halfway through the 11-minute film. Unfortunately, some YouTube viewers agreed.

"This hurt me to watch," wrote one viewer.

Rodriguez ("Sin City," "SpyKids," "From Dusk Till Dawn") made the featurette as part of the Keep Moving project with BlackBerry 10. Fans filled in a few plot points as part of the promotion.

As of Friday evening, the 10-minute film had collected about 75,000 hits on YouTube since BlackBerry posted it May 31.

Let us know if you think "Two Scoops" is just slam-bang popcorn fare -- or does it have a message?
