Two Dead, At Least 18 Wounded In Weekend Gun Violence

Two men have died, and at least 16 other people have been injured, in gun violence citywide since Friday afternoon, police said.

The latest homicide occurred when a man was driving south on the Dan Ryan Expressway. Another car pulled up next to his and began firing several shots about 1 a.m. near 71st Street in the Grand Crossing neighborhood, state police said.

He was shot several times while a female passenger was shot once, police said.

The man, identified by the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office as 27-year-old Fredrick Taylor, of the 14000 block of South Atlantic Avenue in Riverdale, was pronounced dead at Advocate Christ Medical Center at 3:14 a.m.
