Black Voices Breakthrough Theater: 'Burned' (VIDEO)

WATCH: Phyllis Toben Bancroft's Short Film, 'Burned'

Black Voices Breakthrough Theater, part of our Screening Room experience, is a ten part series where our panel of curators present new, short films and web series created by emerging talent --both on screen and behind the camera.

This week's entry, "Burned" is set around a female veteran, played by Bianca LaVerne Jones, struggling with alcoholism and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. Noted Hollywood actor Eric Roberts also makes a key appearance in the film.

PHYLLIS TOBEN BANCROFT is an award-winning filmmaker who has been successful as a director and producer in several disciplines, including film, television, theater, and the Internet. Prior to "Burned," Bancroft created and produced, "Spent," a heart breaking story of a woman whose consumerism leads to tragedy. The film is the recipient of numerous honors and has been screened at more than 30 film festivals nationwide. Honors include a “Best Short” award and being named a Finalist at the USA Film Festival.

Check out “Burned” above and be sure to check back for the next installment of Black Voices' Break Through theater.
