David Andrus Shooting: Man Allegedly Kills Wife, Daughters In Suspected Murder-Suicide

Police: Man Killed Wife, Daughters Before Taking His Own Life

Investigators are trying to piece together a motive after a suburban man from the Chicago area allegedly killed his wife and two daughters before shooting himself in the mouth in an apparent triple murder-suicide.

Fifty-year-old David Andrus was found dead of an apparently self-inflicted gunshot wound on Tuesday afternoon along with his wife Jeana, 48, and the couple's two daughters, Jessica, 22, and Jennifer, 16, the Sun-Times reports. The coroner's office said the three women were all shot once, in the face, at close range.

The DuPage County Sheriff’s Office says the shootings took place around 3:30 p.m. Tuesday in the family's home in the 500 block of Oldfield Road in unincorporated Downers Grove; the area, in DuPage County near Darien, is less than 30 miles southwest of Chicago.

David Andrus is believed to have killed his wife of 28 years first, in the basement, before going upstairs where his daughter's were; his body collapsed on top of his eldest daughter, Jessica.

Jeana Andrus' father, John Infanti, told the Sun-Times he saw “nothing” that would have warned of such a shocking crime. “No problems at all. Nothing to trigger this.”

A source told the Daily Herald one of the nephews saw Andrus walk to a gun safe with a "weird look on his face," before hearing a shot fired in the basement. One of the nephews was reportedly in the home when the shooting began, but Andrus didn't try to harm him and the nephew escaped.

"You just never know these days," neighbor Linda DeFranco told Fox Chicago. "People are stressed, worried about everything."

The shooting deaths happened less than two blocks from where three members of the Kramer family were murdered in three years prior. In May, Johnny Borizov was convicted of orchestrating the murders of Jeffrey Kramer, 50, his wife, Lori, 48, and their youngest son, Michael, 20.
