Time Magazine released the cover of this week's issue that features Edward Snowden, the former National Security Agency contractor who said he leaked top-secret classified information to the press and fled to Hong Kong.

Snowden came forward on Sunday as the person responsible for providing The Guardian and The Washington Post with information about the NSA's secret surveillance programs. He said he was in Hong Kong and planned to stay there until he was "asked to leave."

The Guardian reported that after checking out of Hong Kong's Mira Hotel on Monday, Snowden was believed to be in a safe house. He spoke with the South China Morning Post on Wednesday and said that the U.S. had been hacking into computers in Hong Kong and China for years.

Time's cover features Snowden, alongside Pfc. Bradley Manning and Aaron Swartz, the activist devoted to a free and open Internet who killed himself earlier this year. He was on trial at the time for allegedly downloading millions of articles from JSTOR. The images of Manning, Swartz and Snowden appear below the headline, "The Informers: Why A New Generation Of Hacktivists Is Driven To Spill The Government's Secrets."
