'Les Mis' Protest Video: Turkish Demonstrators Sing Broadway Song In Taksim Gezi Park (VIDEO)

WATCH: Turkish Protesters Sing Stirring Song From 'Les Mis'

Turkish protesters recently sang a powerful rendition of "Do You Hear The People Sing?" from the popular Broadway musical, "Les Miserables," at Taksim Square in Istanbul, according to the Washington Post. The video above, uploaded to YouTube this week, shows a crowd of demonstrators reciting the words to the musical's finale, delivering a well-orchestrated performance as part of the Occupy Gezi movement.

The "Les Mis" number recounts the story of French protesters banding together against the reign of King Louis-Philippe in 1832. Filled with pro-revolutionary lyrics, the song delivers the lines: "Do you hear the people sing? / Singing a song of angry men / It is the music of a people, who will not be slaves again!"

The video made its way to the Russell Crowe's Twitter, as Jordan Zakarin at Buzzfeed points out. The actor who played Javert in the 2012 movie had this to say about the events in Taksim Square:
