Johnny Depp On Vanessa Paradis Split: 'The Last Couple Years Have Been A Bit Bumpy'

Johnny Depp And His Bizarre Pairing With Marilyn Manson, Explained

At 50, Johnny Depp is at the top of his game. He's one of the biggest movie stars in the world, and if not for his split from Vanessa Paradis -- his partner of 14 years and the mother of his children -- he largely managed to dodge the tabloid bullet.

Prior to the release of his new movie, "The Lone Ranger," Depp sat down with Rolling Stone magazine to talk about his relationship with Paradis, what went wrong, and how their kids factor into their breakup. Lucky for us, his other relationship -- with his best new bro, Marilyn Manson -- is also explained.

"The last couple years have been a bit bumpy," Depp told the magazine of his breakup. "At times, certainly unpleasant, but that's the nature of breakups, I guess, especially when there are kiddies involved."

"Relationships are very difficult," he adds at another point. "[But] it doesn't stop the fact that you care for that person, and they're the mother of your kids, and you'll always know each other, and you're always gonna be in each other's lives because of those kids. You might as well make the best of it."

As for his bromance with Manson, with whom Depp performed last year, turns out we can chalk it up to timing.

"I guess it was some sort of fate that drew us together again recently," Manson told Rolling Stone of Depp. "We were both going through some troubles in weird areas in our minds and in our lives, and being with him made me happier, and it seemed like it made him happier."

But being this close to People's 2009 Sexiest Man Alive must be exhausting, right? Surprisingly not so, according to Manson. "He's surprised that girls want to talk to him," says the rocker. "That's how childlike he still is, in a good way. I swear to God, he doesn't realize."
