Toyota Meals For Views: Video Aims To Benefit Hurricane Sandy Victims

Watch This Video, And Toyota Will Give One Meal To Hurricane Victims

Toyota rolled out a new ad campaign Thursday that's cleverly designed to help victims of Hurricane Sandy, the nearly 1,000 mile-wide superstorm that caused tens of billions of dollars in damage in New York and New Jersey in October 2012.

The premise of Toyota's video is simple: For every view it gets between June 20 and July 19, the carmaker will donate one meal to victims of Hurricane Sandy, via the the Food Bank For New York City, a large nonprofit organization that provides about 400,000 free meals to hungry New Yorkers every day.

It's important to note that the meals Toyota is donating aren't hot, pre-cooked plates of food; instead, the company is packaging groceries (including brown rice, pasta, peanut butter, sweet potatoes and a few kinds of canned food) into boxes. Each box is said to contain 40 meals (or, enough to feed one family for about three days).

Still, we have to applaud its philanthropic efforts and creative ad concept.
