A Look Back At The MTV Beach House In Honor Of The First Day Of Summer (VIDEO, PHOTO)

Think back to your summer break circa 1993.

It's June 21, and you know what that means right? The first day of summer! And to kick it off right, we thought a flashback to one of the most notable homes from our summer breaks past was in order: The MTV Beach House.

If you grew up in the 90s, you definitely spent many summer afternoons keeping cool in the air conditioning while wishing you could bump and grind along with your favorite veejays and celebrity guests around this abode, right? The phenomenon began at a rustic multi-level beachside house in the Hamptons in 1993, but its location ping-ponged back and forth between the coasts every summer into the early oughts.

Before the days when watching MTV was like spending too much time in an Urban Outfitter's dressing room -- annoying-- John Norris, Bill Bellamy and Kennedy, along with awesome musical performances like 4 Non Blondes singing “What’s Up?” live could keep us entertained for hours. Between music videos (remember when MTV was actually synonymous with music?) we caught glimpses of the house's beach-themed living room, kitchen and of course a fab pool with plenty of perches for bikini-clad dancing. And, dare we forget, a spiraling slide that started on the roof.

Have you forgotten what all the hype was about? Watch the clip below below of "The Grind" for a blast from the past. And for a more "tasteful" take on beach living, click through the slideshow.
