"The View" will be going on summer hiatus soon, but co-host Whoopi Goldberg will be busy with her latest project: starring in and executive producing the upcoming television movie "A Day And A Dollar Short."
The movie, which is based on Terry McMillan's book by the same name, is an original Lifetime production. Goldberg will play Viola Price, a matriarch who "sets out to fix her fractured family" after being told that she will die soon, according to a statement from the network on Friday.
The filming will take place this summer, and the movie is slated to premiere in 2014. This is the latest collaboration between Goldberg and McMillan. The two worked together on "How Stella Got Her Groove Back," which was also based on a novel by McMillan.
Though Goldberg is most often seen on "The View" these days, she has continued acting career outside of the show. Goldberg, of course, made the all-time classic "Sister Act," which was followed by "The Associate," "Eddie" and other hits. She is one of the few performers who has achieved the coveted EGOT, or won an Oscar, a Grammy, a Tony, and an Emmy.
