'Wilfred' Premiere: Is Wilfred An Immortal Magical Being? (VIDEO)

Season 3 of "Wilfred" kicked off with Ryan trying to determine if Wilfred was just a figment of his fevered imagination. Wilfred rather preferred the theory that he was an immortal magical being. He even claimed that he'd started recalling some famous previous owners, like Anne Frank.

“Anne and her rules," he said. "No trips to the groomers. In the end, I just snapped. I screamed at her, ‘Anne! I’m dying here! It's like we never leave the house!’ Thank God, these well-dressed German men heard my barking and broke into the attic. Those brave heroes rescued me.”

IGN called this monologue "pitch-perfect," hitting those dark-humored high notes. They went on to say that the show "hadn't lost a single step in its twisted absurdity ... By the time Wilfred had rattled off his pitch-perfect monologue about ‘these well-dressed German men’ rescuing him from his ‘previous owner’ Anne Frank, I was reminded of just how much I'd missed this show's dark, fringe humor.”

“The fact of the matter is that this isn't a serious drama," TV Fanatic wrote of the premiere "I hope there aren't crazed fans out there begging for answers to what Wilfred really is. However, the writers playing on that notion by having Ryan and Wilfy argue about whether the latter is imagined because of the former's lunacy, or if Wilfred is simply a magical being, was brilliant.”
