We've come to expect images of fear and hostility from the world's borders, but this photograph from the China-Pakistan border shows a heartwarming display of camaraderie.
Story continues after photo.
The photo, originally from 2007, has been drawing attention since Reddit user -Japan shared it in a post on Sunday. He wrote, "Two border guards, one Pakistani and the other Chinese, at Khunjerab Pass."
The post, which has received more than 1,000 comments since it was posted Sunday, generated discussion of differing customs in the East and West. "In Asia, holding hands means friendship," one user clarified.
Although China and Pakistan have historically maintained positive relations, the image still spoke volumes to viewers about overcoming racial and international boundaries. "At least someone out there is getting along with somebody else," another user commented.
Earlier this month, doctors from Syria and Israel worked together across their borders to save a man's life. Read that story here.
