George Lucas' Wedding: 'Star Wars' Creator Marries Mellody Hobson

George Lucas Is A Married Man!

May the force be with you, George Lucas and Mellody Hobson ... for better or for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, that is. The two, who met in 2006 and were engaged in January of this year, tied the knot Saturday evening in a star-studded ceremony.

While original reports suggested the 68-year-old "Star Wars" creator and film director would marry the 44-year-old businesswoman at the Chicago Peninsula Hotel on June 29, a source revealed to People that the nuptials ended up taking place in Marin County, Calif., where Lucas' Skywalker Ranch is located. But the venue "switch" didn't stop friends and guests from taking to Twitter this weekend to share their excitement for the newly wedded couple.

"Let's give a Galactic shout out to Master George Lucas & his bride Melodie on this, their wedding day," said Samuel L. Jackson. And director Ron Howard noted that their ceremony "was a joy to behold" and the service was "beautiful, nothing short of profound," before adding a simple, "Congrats, Mr. & Mrs. Lucas."
