Kristof Luyckx Monster Videos: Artist Animates Awful YouTube Karaoke Videos (VIDEOS)

Artist Animates Awesomely Awful Karaoke Videos

Belgian artist Kristof Luyckx has turned a series of YouTube karaoke videos into a truly hilarious illustration project, replete with neon monsters and a whole lot of off-key crooning.

The project is based on some of the internet's worst cover songs (think a basement recording of "Paradise City" uploaded to YouTube by an adoring -- but horribly untalented -- fan).

Inspired by these endearing performances, Luyckx recruited a friend to compose and perform their own amateur songs, pulling from the diverse repertoires of Fleetwood Mac, Depeche Mode, Wu-Tang Clan and more. Luyckx then brought his boldly colored creatures into the mix, including a set of Siamese twin monsters and what appears to be a heavy metal llama.

The six animations were originally created for a graphic festival in Belgium called Beyonderground,” Luyckx told The Creator's Project. “The organization asked me to make movies to introduce each lecture at the festival, but it didn't need anything to do with the speaker or their subject.”

The results are hilarious and wonderful.
