Salt & Straw Ice Cream Comes To LA's Joan's On Third

YUM: Famous Ice Cream Is Headed To LA

Bone marrow ice cream? Beer ice cream with breading pudding? Sticky rice ice cream sundae?

Salt & Straw ice cream in Portland, Ore. is unlike any you've ever had. They even have a "six pack" of six different beer ice cream flavors. And now you can have it in LA. The company started serving by the scoop at Joan's on Third on Friday.

Here's how the company explains what they make:

Our ice cream is handmade in small-batches using only all-natural dairy with the best local, sustainable and organic ingredients Oregon has to offer, as well as imported flavors from small, handpicked farms and producers around the world. ... Our ice cream is made with 17% butterfat, very little air in the churn process, and a low sweetness level ... so the flavors can really shine through!

According to the Los Angeles Times, these are the flavors you're going to want to try:

  • sea salt with caramel ribbons (hand-burned caramel spiked with fleur de sel)
  • coffee and bourbon (Stumptown java meets Burnside bourbon)
  • chocolate gooey brownie with marshmallow fluff folded in for extra goo
  • tangy Meyer lemon and blueberry buttermilk custard, a special creation made in honor of the company’s SoCal debut

Um, yum.
