Dog In Wheelchair Plays With Pooches Like Any Other Pup, Melts Our Hearts (VIDEO)

WATCH: Proof That Dogs In Wheelchairs Play Just Like Any Other Pups

Oscar Madison may need a doggie wheelchair to get around, but that doesn't stop him from playing like any other pooch at his local dog run.

The New York City pup's owner filmed Oscar's visit to a dog-friendly section of a park to answer the question of whether a wheelchair-bound dog can have fun at a puppy playground. In the video posted on YouTube Monday, Oscar, who uses a customized dog wheelchair, plays at the dog run and sniffs out new friends.

According to Oscar's Facebook page, the disabled pooch was abandoned on a city street and picked up by animal services. Though he was set to be euthanized, a Facebook post by nonprofit organization Urgent Death Row Dogs notified a New York-based adoption program, which rescued Oscar and found him a loving family.

Oscar is fitted with a specialty wheelchair that supports his hind legs so he can walk and run using his front limbs. As his owner notes on Facebook, "he can run as fast as any other dog."

Oscar is not the only animal that needs some mechanical assistance walking. In 2011, Naki'o became the first dog to receive four prosthetic paws. Hope the Yorkshire terrier uses a uni-wheel to get around, and a pig named Chris P. Bacon has his own speciality set of wheels.
