How To Avoid High Phone Charges Abroad, From Seth Kugel (VIDEO)

This week on Mondays With Marlo, Frugal Traveler columnist for The New York Times Seth Kugel explained how to avoid international roaming charges when traveling abroad. First and foremost, turn on the button that disables international roaming on your phone. You can access the Internet through WiFi. You also need to make sure that nothing automatic happens. Check the settings on all of your apps -- if they keep refreshing, they'll cost you a lot of money.
