Maria Sharapova's Ponytail: Why We Love The Whiplash (PHOTOS)

Why We Love Maria Sharapova's 'Whiplash' Ponytail

When Maria Sharapova steps onto the tennis court, she means business. The Russian player first sent shockwaves down our spines when, at just 17, she defeated Serena Williams to win the 2004 Wimbledon title. With her stellar serve, teeth-grinding grunt and fancy footwork, Sharapova went on to become one of the sport's greatest players.

Though drama began before she and her rival Serena even faced off at Wimbledon 2013, it hasn't stopped the "Siberian Siren" from whipping her fierce ponytail into the second round. Because, let's be honest, one of the real reasons we tune in to the games is to watch Sharapova swing her long blonde strands up and down the tennis court.

Sharapova's "whiplash" ponytail gets us super hyped about cheering on female athletes, as it proves that you don't have try extremely hard to look stylish while breaking a sweat.
