On this week's "Intervention," a mother and son both had to face their demons.
Ryan regularly smoked weed, and had been addicted to heroin for three years, shooting up three times a day. He was also addicted to prescription pills, which his mother, a fellow addict, supplied. Ryan's mom Connie suffered from rheumatoid arthritis and bipolar disorder, and she abused her prescribed medications.
"Well, I give him my pills because he is sick," Connie explained.
"I rely on her, and she relies on me 'cause if she wants something, I can go get it for her," Ryan added. "Since you loaned me these five dollars, I'll go ahead and get you an Adderall for it."
"Their whole relationship right now is based off pills," Ryan's twin sister Katherine said.
The episode ended with both Connie and Ryan being sent to rehab -- at two different facilities. Connie completed a 30-day inpatient program, and continued outpatient treatments back home. She relapsed briefly, but hasn't abused her medication since December 2012. Ryan stayed sober for four months, but started smoking marijuana again and was kicked out of his sober living facility. His parents would not let him back in their house until Ryan was sober again.
Sadly, Ryan and Connie's story is one of the last we'll ever see on the show. There are just two episodes of "Intervention" left to air before the series ends for good.
