Rusko's 'Murda Sound' Debuts Off 'Lift Me Up' EP (EXCLUSIVE)

EXCLUSIVE: Dubstep Legend Returns With A New Banger

Rusko, the British dubstep and drum and bass producer who knows a thing or two about blending hard-driving bass with catchy melodies, is back with a new EP, "Lift Me Up." One of the tunes on the EP, "Murda Sound," is debuting exclusively on HuffPost Entertainment -- just as the three-track record heads to release on Skrillex's imprint, OWSLA.

"Still on a drum and bass kick, I wanted make something totally dance floor, gnarly and more traditionally DnB," Rusko explained. "It's influenced by the sounds of my youth! I had more fun making this track than any other on the EP, and I hope you do too."

When what's often been derided as "brostep" -- "face-melting," brickwalled tracks that swap out nuance for "harder" sounds -- cannibalized the American dubstep market, Rusko was outspoken about the need for more well-crafted tunes in the genre. "Murda Sound" continues that commitment.

"I made 'Murda Sound' in the same session as [another 'Lift Me Up' track] 'Starlight,' which took forever!" he said. "It's full of sweet melodies, pianos and bells."

Take a listen above and let us know what you think in the comments. Fans of Rusko would do well to take a peek at his upcoming tour with DnB legend Roni Size and MC Dynamite. Tour dates are available below. "Lift Me Up" is available on OWSLA, iTunes, Beatport and Spotify.
