Denver Area Children Found Safe In Morning Amber Alert, Driver Of Vehicle Found Dead

An Amber Alert issued early Wednesday morning for three children who were last seen around midnight Tuesday was cancelled later Wednesday morning when the children were found safe and the suspect driving the car was found dead.

Around 7 a.m. Wednesday morning Denver Police Department tweeted:

A man's body was found inside of a white Chrysler Cirrus, a vehicle linked to the Amber Alert, apparently dead from self-inflicted gunshot wounds.

The car was found around 6 a.m. near Franktown. The suspect's name was not released by the police.

The driver repeatedly avoided stop-sticks that police had placed on the road and eventually stopped in a field. As the police approached the car they heard a single gunshot.

Denver Police said that the the children were not in the vehicle and 9News reports that at least two of the children were found in the 10400 block of East 14th Avenue in Aurora.

The third child was also found safe in another location that police have not yet revealed, 7News reports.

The Amber Alert was issued at 4:30 a.m. Wednesday after the children were abducted out of Greenwood Village and the vehicle found was linked to an investigation into a suspicious death in Green Valley Ranch, according to The Denver Post.

DPD tweeted early Wednesday morning:

Police were called to the Green Valley Ranch home on Tuesday night on a welfare check and said they found a body inside the home. Police have not released the identity of the body found in the home, nor are they saying how the death at the home and the Amber Alert are connected.
