Girl's Body Found Under Tarp By Teens: Texas Police, FBI Seek Truck In Connection With Murder

Girl, 6, Found Under Tarp In Street

Texas Rangers and the FBI are investigating a chilling discovery made by teens in Saginaw, Texas, on Monday evening.

Two teenage cousins were playing in the street when they came across a 6-year-old girl's body underneath a tarp. According to Fox affiliate KDFW, the victim was found wearing only purple underwear, with her feet and legs bound and a plastic bag over her head. NBC affiliate KXAS reports that the case is being investigated as a homicide.

“I was panicking. I was freaked out,” Katie Whiddon, mother of one of the boys that discovered the body, told CBS affiliate KTVT. “How can somebody hurt a little girl?”

According to the Star-Telegram, the girl's body was found about a mile from her home. The victim's father reported her missing after searching the neighborhood.

KDFW reports that the FBI searched the victim's home and a minivan on Tuesday morning. No identity has been officially released.

Authorities are searching for a red truck with green paint splatter on the rear passenger side in connection with the investigation.

About 100 people attended a prayer vigil for the victim on Tuesday night, according to a separate KTVT report.
