Lansing Lugnuts' Walk-Off Hit Negated By Base-Running Blunder (VIDEO)

WATCH: Minor League Team Loses In Unusual Fashion

During a minor league game on Monday against the Single-A Great Lakes Loons, an apparent walk-off hit by the Lansing Lugnuts (a Blue Jays affiliate) was negated by the most unusual of circumstances.

With the bases loaded and the game tied at four in the bottom of the ninth, the Lugnuts' Chris Hawkins hit a single to center field for what should have ended the game. However the player on first base rushed over to Hawkins to celebrate and never touched second base. The Great Lakes' (a Dodgers affiliate) center fielder noticed and quickly relayed the ball to second for the unexpected force out.

After the umps deliberated to make certain they had the correct call, the winning run was wiped off the scoreboard and the game went into extra innings.

The Lugnuts would go on to lose in the tenth, 5-4.
