Shep Smith Jokes About Megyn Kelly's Move: 'So Sad We Fired' Bill O'Reilly (VIDEO)

WATCH: Megyn Kelly Jokes About Bumping Bill O'Reilly

There has been a lot of speculation about which hour Megyn Kelly will take over when she moves to primetime, and Shep Smith joked on Wednesday that it will be none other than Bill O'Reilly's 8 p.m. timeslot.

Kelly hosted her last episode of "America Live" before going on maternity leave on Wednesday. When she threw the broadcast to Smith, he gave Kelly his best wishes. "I'm so sad we fired O'Reilly," he jokingly added. "I know you need a timeslot."

"You know it's really awkward for him to find out this way," Kelly replied. "I'm glad you just put it out there."

"I'm sorry, Bill, but you need time to write more books!" Smith insisted, joking that Kelly will host Fox News' entire primetime block. Kelly laughed and thanked him for clearing up any rumors.

Kelly will move to her new post after she returns from maternity leave.
