Amidst his "Rock Center" cancellation and reports that the NBC News anchor was "insulted" by the network's decision, Brian Williams raised eyebrows when he lunched with CAA CEO Richard Lovett last week.

The New York Post reported on Sunday that Williams was spotted lunching with the talent agency bigwig at a Rockefeller Center restaurant. The Post speculated that Williams might be on the lookout for a major new contract a la "Today" host Matt Lauer, who signed a deal last year reportedly worth $25 million.

A NBC News spokesperson dismissed the speculation, noting that Williams was in the middle of a long-term contract.

NBC canceled its primetime newsmagazine "Rock Center with Brian Williams" earlier this year, less than two years after its November 2011 debut. The show aired its final episode in June. Reports surfaced that Williams was unenthused by the way the network handled the show, and was reportedly angered by the constant switching of "Rock Center's" time slot. In the show's 19 months on the air, NBC moved the show three times.
