'Tonight Show' Ratings Still Put Jay Leno On Top Of Late Night Heap

Leno Is Still The Ratings King Of Late Night

Just six months away from handing over the reins of "The Tonight Show" to Jimmy Fallon, Jay Leno is still the ratings king of late night TV.

New Nielsen ratings for the second quarter of 2013 show that Leno is still dominating his competition. Leno's "Tonight Show" attracted an average of 3.57 million viewers per night, beating out Dave Letterman's "Late Show" and "Jimmy Kimmel Live" by approximately 750,000 and 1 million viewers respectively.

Comedy Central's "The Daily Show" was the only show to beat out "The Tonight Show" in the key 18-49 demographic, garnering 1.11 million viewers compared to Leno's 1.08 million.

Meanwhile, "Late Night With Jimmy Fallon" averaged 1.78 million viewers, with 701,000 coming in the 18-49 demo.

So will the strong "Tonight Show" ratings showing give NBC second thoughts -- again -- about replacing Leno? It's probably too late for that, but anything is possible in NBC's "Tonight Show" saga.
