Michele Bachmann Calls Obama's Push For Health Care Reform 'Selfish And Calculating'

Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-Minn.) took aim at President Barack Obama's motivations for pushing the Affordable Care Act on Tuesday while on the Fox News radio show "Kilmeade and Friends."

Bachmann accused Obama of passing health care reform not in order to help the American people, but to help himself politically. "That's about as selfish and calculating as you can get," Bachmann said.

"This was never actually about solving a problem that people had with health care," Bachmann said. "This was always about passing politically palatable legislation that would help the president's political aspirations. That's how selfish and shallow this is. It's almost unbelievable."

When asked about efforts to repeal the law or further delay its implementation, Bachmann said she would like House Republicans to work with Obama to delay the implementation of the individual mandate now that the Obama administration has delayed penalties for businesses. Last month, Bachmann called herself the "champion" of repealing Obamacare in an interview with Fox News' Sean Hannity.

"I think you'll see Republicans in the House advance legislation that actually helps the American people," Bachmann said on Tuesday. "And unlike the president, we aren't going to wave a magic wand and decree by press conference."

This is not the first time that Bachmann has spoken negatively of the Affordable Care Act. In a speech on the House floor in March, Bachmann charged that Obamacare will "kill" women and children. She has also said that God will step in to free Americans from the legislation.

Bachmann recently announced that she will not run for reelection in 2014, but she has not ruled out another presidential run.
