John Leguizamo Joins 'Ride Along' With Kevin Hart And Ice Cube (TRAILER)

WATCH: John Leguizamo Jumps Into 'Ride Along'

After many rumors of whether or not he would join the cast, John Leguizamo will officially star in “Ride Along,” an action-comedy featuring Kevin Hart and Ice Cube.

The film follows security guard Ben, played by Hart, as he engages in a 24-hour patrol of Atlanta with who he hopes is his future brother-in-law James, a cop played by Ice Cube. Ben’s goal is to be able to prove himself worthy of marrying James’ sister Angela. Leguizamo will play an undercover cop who joins in on the fun. This trio — working together for the first time ever — guarantees a laugh or two. There’s even talk of a sequel!

The film had some issues with production and has gone through a number of writers and re-writes. But Universal finally made the decision to take on the project, which pushed “Ride Along” right along.

The film will be directed by Tim Story of “Barbershop” and “Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer.” Ice Cube is producing the film along with his CubeVision partner Matt Alvarez and Larry Brezner and William Packer.

John Leguizamo brings diversity to the big screen

Leguizamo could easily be called one of Hollywood’s most diverse actors. Not only has he starred in box-office hits such as “The Lincoln Lawyer” and “Moulin Rouge,” but he has also taken his talents to animation, lending his voice to a few of the “Ice Age” movies along with “Rio” and the soon-to-be released “Rio 2.”

Before the 48-year-old actor joined the cast of “Ride Along,” he wrapped up filming on “Kick-Ass 2″ and the A-list thriller “The Counselor” alongside Brad Pitt, Javier Bardem, Penelope Cruz and Cameron Diaz.

The Colombian-American also completed his one-man biopic documentary “Tales From a Ghetto Klown,” which was based on his life.

“Ghetto Klown,” which debuted on Broadway, brought the actor’s multicultural life to the forefront, while showing off his talent in both English and Spanish.

“Ride Along” is expected to hit theaters January 14.
