Ouidad Curl Recovery Curl Defining Styling Souffle Gave Me Diana Ross Hair (PHOTOS)

The Product That Gave Me Diana Ross Hair

If the temperature is 80 degrees before I roll out of bed in the morning, there are only a few ways I can style my naturally curly hair. I can keep the frizz under wraps with a turban, French braids or two-strand twists. However, I usually give in to the sweltering heat and allow my Afro to go untamed. (This is very freeing.) But can't a girl have a good curly hair day during the summer? Meet the hair product that made that happen for me.

I whipped out the Ouidad Curl Recovery Curl Defining Styling Souffle on the Fourth of July. My vision was to wear big, fluffy curls while partying on the Benjamin Franklin Parkway in Philadelphia with my friends.

The styling souffle is surprisingly lightweight, and it has a sweet scent that almost tempted me to get heavy-handed. First, I spritzed a mixture of room temperature water and jojoba oil onto my strands. Then I separated my hair into small sections and applied a nickle-sized amount of the product before creating braids. I repeated this step until my entire head was covered in coils. To add more moisture, I sealed my ends with a touch of olive oil. I got dressed and did my makeup while my hair air-dried.

As I unraveled each braid, my fingers glided through my hair without turning into the usual knots. But what really shocked me was the wave pattern the styling souffle helped to create. I finally had my dream hair: Diana Ross curls. The ringlets formed into a halo around my head and gradually stretched while I watched the Fourth of July fireworks.

Rating: 4 out of 5. I deducted a point because this works best as a daily curly hair styling product, and I just don't have time to redo my hair each morning.
