It's hard to believe that singer/songwriter Wynter Gordon didn't feel beautiful growing up. The stunning 28-year-old star has the kind of flawless skin, marvelous mane and snatched figure that would make most ladies jealous.
But we all have our issues (and awkward years) and it's comforting to know that celebs are no different. In fact, Wynter opens up about those times and more for the latest installment of StyleLikeU.com's Music X Style series.
Although the "Stimela" singer has found success with her own career and writing songs for the likes of Mary J. Blige and Jennifer Lopez, she hasn't forgotten her humble beginnings growing up on welfare in Queens, New York.
"There's beauty in pain and everyone experiences it -- and it's a lesson," Wynter told StyleLikeU.
And once ashamed of the second-hand clothes she had to wear, Wynter now proudly wraps herself in an eclectic mix of new and thrifted finds -- bold maxi dresses, laid back ponchos, colorful harem pants and edgy black getups that are perfect for a born-and-raised NYC girl.
While Wynter's wardrobe is definitely enviable, it's her spirit that seems to out shine her style.
