Fishermen Adrian Colaprete And Pat Foster Rescue Endangered Whale Off Virginia Beach Coast (VIDEO)

WATCH: You'll Want To Cheer During This Dramatic Whale Rescue

When two local fisherman in Virginia Beach, Va., saw an endangered whale tangled in a fishing rope, they didn't hesitate to act.

Adrian Colaprete and Capt. Pat Foster came upon a Northern Right Whale struggling to escape on Sunday, WAVY reported. The ropes were attached to fishing gear, dragging behind the whale.

Colaprete and Foster patterned the whale's movements and decided their best option was for Colaprete to jump in and manually cut the ropes, according to TheWildLife.com.

Then, they decided to film the entire rescue.

The gear quickly fell away, and the whale was able to swim freely.

"It was definitely an extraordinary experience," Colaprete says in the video.
