Americans love to think of themselves as the world's hardest-working people. There's only one teeny, tiny problem: It's not true.

The Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development calculated the average annual hours worked per dependent employee in various countries last year, and lo and behold, the U.S. doesn't even rank among the top six. But American workers logged a total of 1,798 hours on average last year, so who's ahead? Check it out:
