Suboo 2014 Runway Show Delivers At Miami Swim Week (VIDEO, PHOTOS)

LOOK: Ready To Wear THIS To The Beach?!?!

While lounging between runway shows at this year's Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Swim, a well-known stylist confided to us: "I just want to see something different this year!"

And then the Suboo show delivered. Gone were last year's flowy, flirty cover-ups; in were bold-shouldered, square-cut power suit tops over teeny bottoms and towering cage heels. The Aussie label's designer Sue Di Chio was inspired by the classic Bond girl, but we think she might have watched "Tron," too: for one look, long cutout sleeves in a black and white grid print met a turquoise crop top to form a suit so racer sleek we were ready to believe models were on their way to actually surf the Internet.

Easily the most editorial collection of Swim Week's opening night, Suboo's "Cruiser" collection might have threatened strange tan lines with bondage-esque tops, but it also included many wearable pieces -- and several we expect to see cropping up at music festivals as well as the beach. The first suit down the runway was a capped-sleeve graphic print two-piece that was stunningly unusual yet not at all intimidating (and we love the extra sun protection!); a strapless black one-piece boasted dramatic mesh side panels and a flattering neckline; cut-in maillots are perfect for the sporty sunbather; and we're certain we'll be seeing that sequined bikini bottom at pool parties around the country. It was a breath of fresh, futuristic air.
