Cameron Diaz Named Artistic Director At Pour La Victoire

Cameron Diaz's New Role

Though she's perfected the role of badass angel, hot and inept teacher and irresistible orthopedic surgeon, Cameron Diaz is about to change hats entirely.

The 40-year-old actress has just been named artistic director at the contemporary footwear and accessories brand Pour La Victoire. The partnership marks her first real foray into fashion and gives her control over PLV's handbag and shoe collections, as well as merchandising, marketing and advertising for the brand.

The new relationship seems all too familiar, as celebrities joining forces with designers is de rigueur these days, though most end in a flop. (Is anyone else still having nightmare about Lindsay Lohan’s stint as Ungaro’s artistic director?)

But Diaz insists that this partnership will be different. “I know how I work and I know when something is important to me. I’ll try my best and hope for the best," Diaz told WWD. "Not everyone succeeds or fails all the time. All I can do is engage with it."

The A-lister is truly engaged (and invested) in the company, as she recently bought a stake in PLV Studio Inc, parent company of PLV.

Though Diaz's first collection won't be available until spring, PLV will push out a curated selection of items called “Cameron’s Picks" this fall, which will give us our first taste of her influence on the contemporary brand.

Do you think Cameron Diaz will play a fashion darling as well as she played an angel?
