Mariano Rivera might not have expected this.

Earlier that day, Rivera continued his farewell tour by meeting with several Red Sox fans and team employees to say goodbye, per the New York Daily News.

Just a few hours after striking out Jarrod Saltalamacchia to record his 639th career save and 31st of the season, Rivera received yet another round of applause -- this time at a famous local steakhouse in the Back Bay neighborhood of Boston, according to the Wall Street Journal.

"At one point, it finally came to a crescendo," Fox broadcaster Kenny Albert said, who was dining at another table. "Basically the entire restaurant was clapping for him."
