More Latino adults are turning to English-language news, according to a new Pew study released on Tuesday.
Compared to studies of years past, Pew researchers Mark Hugo Lopez and Ana Gonzalez-Barrera found that "a growing share of Latino adults are consuming news in English from television, print, radio and internet outlets, and a declining share are doing so in Spanish."
Eighty-two percent of respondents said they get some of their news in English, while 68 percent said they get some of their news in Spanish. The findings presented the widest gap between the two data points since 2006.
The findings are promising for news organizations that have bolstered its English-language content aimed at Latino audiences. Earlier this year, ABC News teamed up with Univision to create Fusion, a joint venture news and lifestyle outlet for the U.S. Latino population. The English-language cable channel will launch later this year.
