'Butterfly House' In Carmel, California, Sits Perched On A Cliff (PHOTO)

Find out where you have to go to enjoy such a view.

If you own an iconic oceanfront house, you have to be prepared for a few inconveniences: Sudden waves crashing against your living room, tourists constantly stopping by and, occasionally, a whiff of aging seaweed.

The upsides, though, are worth it. The 'Butterfly House' in Carmel, California has stunning views and plenty of midcentury cred. Originally built in 1950 by architect Frank Wynkoop, the home has changed hands twice before its recent sale (for a whopping $16.5 million). However, Wynkoop's sons were involved in the last renovation in 2008, updating the home with an eye towards their father's vision.
