The landing gear beneath the nose of the Boeing 737 collapsed as the plane touched down on the runway, officials said. Ten passengers were treated for injuries at the scene, and six were taken to a hospital with minor injuries, New York Port Authority Acting Director of Aviation Thomas Bosco told the Associated Press.

Bosco said there was no advance warning of a problem before the landing.

However, the flight had been delayed in Nashville, Tenn., before flying to New York, and a passenger said that an announcement was made saying something was wrong with a tire. There were 150 people on board, according to Southwest.

The plane's flight data and cockpit voice recorders have been sent to the National Transportation Safety Board for examination.
