A Plastic Kitchen Seemed Like A Great Idea In The 1950s (PHOTO)

It's made from a material that won't exactly stand up to wear-and-tear.

In the 1950s, the marvel that was plastics captured many an imagination.

Some imaginations however, were a little too taken by this new material.

I present you with the "plastic kitchen." It's a kitchen made entirely of... well, you know.

Not the best idea, especially in a room with at least one heat source that can hit over 500 degrees.

Plastic kitchens went extinct almost immediately. (Though plastic dishware and cabinet veneers occasionally live on.) These furnishings, however, are on the bubble.
