Reza Aslan Tells Piers Morgan: It Was 'Embarrassing' Defending Myself To Fox News (VIDEO)

It Was 'Embarrassing' Having To Defend Myself To Fox News

Reza Aslan told Piers Morgan Monday night that defending himself to Fox News was "embarrassing."

Last week, religious scholar Reza Aslan was asked by Fox News host Lauren Green, "You're a Muslim, so why did you write a book about the founder of Christianity?"

Aslan responded, "To be clear, I am a scholar of religions with four degrees, including one in the New Testament, and fluency in biblical Greek, who has been studying the origins of Christianity for two decades, who also just happens to be a Muslim."

Aslan explained to Morgan that he felt "kind of embarrassed" because "there's nothing more distasteful than an academic having to trot out his credentials. You really come off as a jerk when you do that. It was very hard not to keep mentioning that I'm actually qualified to write this book, so let's talk about the book instead."
