At Debate, Detroit Mayoral Candidates Big On Hits, Not On Substance

Slams win Over Substance At Mayor Debate

There were more fireworks and bluster than substance Tuesday night in the first televised Detroit mayoral candidate debate since the filing of the largest-ever bankruptcy of an American city.

And that historic Chapter 9 municipal bankruptcy petition didn't do a lot to change the messages of candidates vying to be mayor as they laid out their cases before a boisterous crowd at the city's Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History. The debate was broadcast on WADL-TV (Channel 38).
