New York Yankees catcher Francisco Cervelli was one of 12 players to accept a 50-game suspension for violations of the Major League Baseball's Joint Drug Prevention and Treatment Program, the league announced on Monday.

"We are disappointed with the news today of the suspension of Francisco Cervelli. It's clear that he used bad judgment," the Yankees said in a statement, via yesnetwork.com.

Three-time AL MVP Alex Rodriguez was suspended through the 2014 season but will appeal.
