Renee Estill-Sombright Says Bob Filner Made Unwanted Advances At Church Fundraiser

San Diego Mayor Accused Of Making Unwanted Advances At Church

A 10th woman has come forward with allegations of sexual harassment against San Diego Mayor Bob Filner (D), telling ABC affiliate 10News that the mayor made unwanted advances during a church fundraiser.

Renee Estill-Sombright, a 46-year-old bank employee and part-time singer, said she encountered Filner at a fundraiser benefitting a group that helps refugees from Africa at La Jolla Presbyterian Church. Estill-Sombright sang the National Anthem at the June event.

"We were standing face-to-face and he held on to me and he was like, 'You are so beautiful,'" she said. "'I just cannot take my eyes off of you.'"

According to Estill-Sombright, Filner asked whether she was married, and said he would like to take her "out sometime." At the time, Filner was engaged to Bronwyn Ingram; the couple broke up last month.

Estill-Sombright said she had met the mayor once previously.

On Monday, Filner was set to begin two weeks of intensive therapy at a behavior counseling clinic amid lawsuits over his alleged sexual harassment and multiple calls for his resignation. While Filner has denied harassment charges, he acknowledged that his "failure to respect women" is "inexcusable" and required treatment.

"I must become a better person ... I must demonstrate that my behavior has changed," Filner said.
