Johnny Damon Talks A-Rod Suspension, 2009 World Series Possibly Being Diminished

Is Yankees' 2009 World Series Title Diminished Because Of A-Rod?

Alex Rodriguez's 211-game suspension for allegedly using performance-enhancing drugs has his former teammate Johnny Damon wondering whether the 2009 World Series they won with the Yankees is tainted.

Damon was asked on MLB Network Radio on Sirius XM if he feels the World Series win would be diminished if Rodriguez was using PEDs at the time.

"Well I haven't really got to think that far but if that's how he was able to hit in the postseason like he did that year, then yeah, absolutely. Then you start going and saying 'well was anyone on their team cheating?' There are just so many different factors that determine that the team wins and A-Rod was a huge determining factor," Damon said. "He was the MVP of the ALCS. He played a pretty huge part and unfortunately through the years, a lot of guys who have been winning awards, I mean, they're linked to something... and that's a shame."

Speaking to the New York Daily News earlier this week, Damon said “It would be a shame if that’s the only reason we won against the Twins, Angels and Phillies (the Yankees’ three playoff opponents in ’09).”

Do you think the Yankees' World Series win in 2009 would be diminished if A-Rod took PEDs?
